Michael Vergason Landscape Architects

Internship

In the summer of 2011, I had the pleasure of working with Michael Vergason and the talented group of landscape architects at Michael Vergason Landscape Architects. I was asked to stay longer into the fall which I did. As part of a team effort, I researched, wrote, and redesigned a template proposal package used to begin the “Request for Proposals” process.  Considering the studio aesthetic, I created presentation graphics and built physical paper models and digital 3-D presentation models in Photoshop and Sketch-up. I worked on design, visualizations and presentations for a many types clients, including corporate, institutional, public spaces, proposals and competitions, etc:

  • Wild Turkey Visitor’s Center Proposal with Ziger Snead, meetings, experience design ideas
  • Central Plaza Proposal in Fort Worth Texas–ultimately this project won an ASLA award for the firm
  • Camden Yards, Sculpture Garden, Baltimore Maryland
  • University of Pennsylvania-Henderson Hall Hub area
  • St. Mary’s College– Hearings, Meetings
  • Old Post Office in Washington DC
  • Wardman West Residences Site Plan

I ended internship in the fall by curating and installing an exhibition of Michael’s work at University of Virginia. I designed and assembled handmade books of his work especially for this exhibit.   The exhibition was shown at University of Virginia and traveled to other locales. The books were shown along side of drawings by architect Robert Stern.
